Hladecek Job Synopsis
Jim and Lucy Hladecek contacted KSI about design and building costs in the
spring of 1996. We were put under contract in the fall of 1996 to perform
design work on the house and to prepare a preliminary budget. The Hladeceks
had a sketch of a home from a magazine that they liked very much and Lucy
had prepared a scrapbook with interior features she had cut out of magazines
over the years. Having this data was very beneficial in the preparation of
drawings and gave us an idea of what the Hladeceks wanted in a home. They
were also very concerned that the house would be creatively sited on the lot to
ensure that the large trees would be saved.
We spent most of the fall of 1996 and early 1997 developing drawings and
specifications. The Hladeceks spent most of 1997 preparing for their
retirement and their move out west from Virginia. During this time the plans
were further refined and shipped between our offices and their home in
Virginia. The Hladeceks sold their home in early 1998, a permit was issued in
March and construction work started in April. The Hladeceks moved in to their
completed home in November of 1998.
